Grand Prix....or just an excuse

This week has been one of the most eventfull and interesting in my whole college career.  The first time I was legal to go to breakfast club for Grand Prix here at Purdue.  For those that don't know, Grand Prix is a annual race that Purdue puts on.  It translates into crazy drunkness all week long all over campus.  We seem to use it as an excuse to drink each night and go to class still feeling it the next day, only to start up right after class, if you didn't before class. Nobody really seems to make it to the race except for the frat people.  The rest of us spend all day long drinking, playing corn hole and relaxing.

I can say that this is the first time I have drank from 7 am till 2 am with like an hour nap in there somewhere to compensate for not sleeping the night before.  I had a blast hanging out with everyone, the complete randomness that happens at breakfast club and for certain individuals.  The costumes I saw were absolutely awesome, and some were very disturbing.  I spent the day playing darts, cornhole, drinking large amounts of alcohol.  After all that I didn't even wake up feeling bad.  It is a completely different experience being at the bars at 7am and drunk dialing by 9:30 to wake the lazy bastards up that didn't come out.

It is too bad though that there are only a couple weeks left before people graduate and head out, but thats life for ya, always changin.  I hope this weekend to be just as great and random as the past couple have been.

"A Ladoga man was fatally injured when a trash truck struck his vehicle Thursday afternoon.

Harold L. Cline, 71, was pronounced dead at the scene. His death was caused by impact, Coroner Darren Forman said.

David L. Hole, 25, Crawfordsville, was released from St. Clare Medical Center Thursday night after being examined for small scrapes and bruises to the left side of his head. He also complained of soreness under his right arm area. He was not wearing a seatbelt, Montgomery County Police Officer Luther Blanton said.

Police said Cline was headed north on County Road 925E in a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck. Hole was headed west on County Road 900S in a trash truck owned by Quality Waste Services when he failed to stop at a stop sign, Blanton said.

The two vehicles collided and landed in a ditch, with the trash truck pinning the pickup. Both caught fire.

Dispatch received the call at 2:50 p.m.

“The pickup truck burnt completely up and the cab of the other truck burnt completely up,” Blanton said.

Ladoga Fire and Rescue extinguished the blaze.

Montgomery County sheriffs, Montgomery County Highway Department, an Indiana State Police Department of Transportation officer and Walnut Township Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

Police don’t suspect alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident."

You honestly never know when it will be your last day, so don't ever forget to say your goodbyes and be thankfull when you have made it through another day.

the object just to the right of the orange part of the truck that is burnt beyond recognition was my grandpas truck.....

I

Hey everyone, just thought i'd let you know i'm still kicking, somewhat.  I have had a busy busy busy summer and about nil free time.  Well i guess i have free time i just spend it working on my toys.  Incase some of you didn't know, i've been into racing HEAVY this summer.  My uncle just bout a stock car (looks like a nascar) and i've been spending a lot of time pit crewing on that, being spotter and the races and such.  This sunday we have a race in mansfield, OH.  which should be lots of fun.  My other hobby is also racing as well.  Here in the small town of ladoga, some guys built a little 1/8 mile dirt race track for go-karts.  So naturally, since i can't drive the stock car yet, i needed something to race as well.  so i've been dealing with that, blowing lots of money on new tires and a motor.  Tonight we just spent about 5 hours making a body for it so i'm no longer racing open wheel (like the indy cars).  Now my kart looks like a miny nascar...somewhat.  I'll have to take pics during the race tomorrow you you all know what i'm talking about.  I like to think i'm a natural at racing/driving.  My first day on the dirt track here, i ran 2nd all day except the last race.  And plus i just have natural feels for vehicles and tracks.  Even drag racing my motorcyle i was damn good.  10.6 secs in a quarter mile with a .014 reaction time off the light :-D.  we normally run about 10 races a night.  the guy i kept following was pat enlow.  He used to race at the ben hur dirt track in crawfordsville, which is one of the best dirt tracks and some of the best drivers in the state.  So my first time out, getting my kart setup right and running on his bumper all night and sometimes 2 karts wide around the track was definitely a thrill.  Doing all this racing and going up to fort wayne to go to horse shows with autumn doesn't leave me with much relax time or time to come online and post.  even as i type this my hands hurt because i haven't typed in so long, they don't know what to do.  they are just used to turning wrenches and steering wheels.  so if you guys are ever in ladoga on thurs. or sunday night, come out and watch some good ole go-kart racing.  Definitely the most fun i've had in a long long time.  Farming is just as busy as ever.  So much to do and so little time, but i won't go into detail on that, it hasn't been much fun lately.

Back to Drivers ED

So, I have decided that 98% of the driving population needs to go back to drivers ed, or they need to be run over by my huge tractor: example of such tractor shown on my pictures page.  I had to take a mailbox out today with my huge tractor because people niether slow down for me, nor get over.  One of these days i'm going to run over these people and squash them like a little bug, killing the 10 people they have crammed into the damn car.  THEN, MAYBE THEN, people will start respecting equipment 10 times larger than their car.  I'm tired of having to swerve off in every little nook and cranny in the road, because people are too lazy to pull off in a driveway and sit for 30 seconds to let me pass.  That is all it takes.  There my ranting is done.
