I found something that made this weeks game a little easier to watch.

I will give you a hint.

It's golden like the bounty in a Captains chest.

time to move on?

Here is a letter that pretty raps up life at the moment.

So I have been asking myself is it time to move on from my job.  Don't get me wrong I love my job and am probably considered one of the better ones that is currently working in my department on my shift.  The main reason I am one of the better ones is because I still care.  I care that stuff gets done, that product is on the shelf, and that I help out the shift after me as much as possible.  Most of my coworkers are good workers but just don’t care anymore, and I don’t blame them.  Why care when you hear your supervisors say, “I come in, do what I get done and then go home and don’t worry about it”.  Lucky I still care, but only for the customers and my co-workers on other shifts.  I get compliments all the time about how well I know the department, find product in the backroom after someone else has already "looked" for it, and know what most of the ad items are even if the sign are missing.  I care about the customers and my coworkers, but the managers who sit in the office not get anything done, who don't pay attention to when people can and cannot work, and are more worried about impressing their bosses then having enough people there to keep the department in shape on a daily basis, I could care less about.  We had a supervisor who could see through all that and actually cared about the customers experience and his workers, but he left for better opportunities.

Since our former supervisor left, the department has just fallen apart.  They first choose to replace him with someone who had no experience in the department, over someone who had the experience and the relationship with the workers.  This person would spend hours sitting on the computer going through training or just sitting in the break room hours on end talking with other supervisors.  Then the day he was given a bunch of tasks to accomplish he decided that it was too much and quit.  Rather the promoting from within like we had been told was going to happen they brought in someone from the outside.  At least this one has experience relevant to the department.  Shortly after this other supervisor was promised another position in a different department.  Suddenly the current department activities took a back seat to the future departments activities.  Only when things were really a problem with the department was attention given back to the current department.

I would not have a problem working for either of my current supervisors if they actually seemed to work together for the good of the department.  I am not sure what is going on, but they seem to be working separately at best, even when they are together.  When the workers tell one of the supervisors they should not have to track down the next supervisor to tell them the same thing.  When one supervisor tells a worker one thing, they should let the other supervisor know so they don’t do or say the exact opposite.  I am tired of hearing the supervisors bicker about the other behind their backs.  If there is something messed up it is always the other supervisors fault.  If you go up and say, “You guys messed this up.”  Your will be greeted by, “Hey, it wasn’t me it was ….  I did it right and … changed it.”   If there is a problem between supervisors then talk to them about it between supervisors or to a higher supervisor, not to me because I can’t do anything about it.  If you promise something or are told something by a worker let the other know so you work together and not against each other.  If I have a problem with one of my coworkers that isn’t getting solved I would go up to our supervisor to see if something could be worked out.

I just took a vacation because I was getting so pissed off every time I went in.  Every time there are excuses flying about why things aren’t done, why the backrooms were destroyed, and that we have to get this project done even though we don’t have the normal load done.  I have been back for a week and am already getting pissed off again with people worrying about stuff they don’t need to worry about.  Get your job done and that is all you need to worry about.  If you can’t get your job done then you need to let your supervisor know early enough in the shift so that something can get done about it.  If you fail to get your job done and fail to let the supervisor know you have just failed.   If a supervisor is seeing that someone is failing or a job is not getting done, they need to address the problem even if it requires they do it.  If it is a common occurrence then a shake up may be necessary or more resources need to be allotted.   This doesn’t just go for the supervisors over their workers, but also the department heads over the supervisors and the store head over the department heads.  So if one worker fails, their supervisor fails, the department head fails, and the store head fails.  Over the past few months failure has been the only thing the store has excelled at.

So why should I stay?  I am not a failure and want to work with someone else who is not a failure.

Lets just say they have a couple of weeks to get their act together.

So yesterday I got a call from a number I did not recognize.  Like normal I let the call go through to my voicemail and this time a voicemail was actually left.  Since I was at work I had to wait till a break to listen to the message.  The message was left from a friend from high school that I ran into while in Fort Wayne this summer.  He gave me a call saying that he had some bad news about another friend from high school and to give him a call back.  I expected to hear that he was killed or injured in some accident.  I did not expect to hear that someone had shot him.  Some of you may have heard that someone was found dead in a car at Northcrest School on Saturday.
