I have the best girlfriend EVER!!!!

so as you may or may not know, i had a birthday about a month ago. and my amazingly perfect girlfriend Sam got me a present... Well what is this present? you may be thinking to yourself ... well, I'll tell you...

it's a set of books

and not just any books, but 3 books in a lovely box.

and written in this 3 book set are Calvin and Hobbes comics
(hold on to your pants it gets better)

in these 3 books its not JUST calvin and hobbes comics ...

BUT it's EVERY CALVIN AND HOBBES CARTOON EVER MADE!!!!!!!

the best part is I mentioned this only once like a couple months ago and how awesome it would be to have it, and next thing i know she's getting it for me for my birthday. It's also NOT a cheap present to be giving. This is just a small reason why I have the most amazing girlfriend EVER!!!

life at the bottom....

of course that's figuratively speaking... I'm only at the bottom of this site "like those other losers" so I figured it was time to post some hot action...

so let me start off with the juicy details of the women in my life because quite frankly, the rest of my life is mildly boring (right now my time is split up between work and the gym and that's about it). So anywho, I finally cut it off completely with my ex who was undoubtedly my first love and possibly a great love. It really wasn't the ending I was hoping for but we were just going back and forth from friends to not speaking to each other and it just really hurt and it was dragging out a lot longer than it needed to.

But I also have a new gal who is mind blowingly amazing and it definitely could be as good as this past ex. The only drawback to the new girl (Sam) is that she's currently in Milwaukee attending Marquette University. and yeah you're probably wondering how old she is since she's still in school and as most of you know I am a sucker for the young ones, so she's still at the tender young age of 18... go ahead, feel free to bust my balls about that one. But I'm definitely crazy about her and she really wants us to work so we're kind of taking this whole distance thing day by day.

there's your little peak into what's going on with me, I'll try to give more glimpses into my world more often to avoid any further chastising from Bishop

who will harass me the most???

yeah I know I don't post nearly as often as I should and recently I've had a lot going on...

first of all, there better be a good turnout at this lan party cuz I just mapquested it and they estimate the travel time to be about 2 and a half hours.... SO THERE BETTER BE A LOT OF PEOPLE THERE IF I HAVE TO DRIVE THAT FAR!!!!

secondly, I finally got my broke ass a job!!! WOOO HOOO!!!! I started in the manager trainee program at Menards. Ideally it's not what i wanted but I am making a decent amount of money so that's good. And now I can put some management experience on my resume so that should help in the future.

a third little side note.... I few days ago i got a hair cut and I've been doing the faux-hawk ... it looks funky fresh!

INDUSTRIAL ROUNDTABLE!!!!

so yeah yesterday (tuesday the 20th for those of you keeping score at home) I went to the Industrial Roundtable and IT WAS AWESOME!!!! I talked to sooooo many people from a ton of different companies. such as... Pepsi, Honda, Motorola, GM, Chrysler, Microsoft, Toyota.... yeah, big names! The best interview (yeah for the sake of arguement I'm just gonna call it an interview even though it's only kinda an interview... you know what i mean) was definitely Honda which would be a very cool company to work for. The dude I first talked to had an OLS minor, which is my major, so he knew about it and what people with those majors were good at and whatnot, and we were just jokin' around shootin' the shit for a while along with talking about jobs and stuff. He even said I should go talk to this other Brittany chick (who was kinda hot) that's from Honda's HR department!!! so I basically had two interviews with Honda and I think they went really well.

So I'm pretty excited to see if anything comes from this.

cuz I need a freakin jobby job!!!

any suggestions???

so this coming monday (September 12th) morning I have an interview at a construction company for a project manager position and I figured there's some kids on here that have a year or two more experience in this world than i do so if you have any words of wisdom to share with me that would be super.

and I'm really hoping this project manager thing works out cuz so far it's the closest thing to my degree that I've got an interview for. Ideally I'd like to find an HR position in an industrial setting but my degree can go into HR or management. ANYWHO, yeah, I already have a killer resume and a totally badass suit so aside from that let me know if you think there's anything I should do.

it went really well but this company is totall small. Their building i had the interview in was just a tiny hole in the wall place and they really aren't into "construction" persay, they do remodeling and flooring and windows and stuff like that. so I dunno, the company was a bit of a let down but i felt the interview went pretty good and the guy said they'd be calling people back in about a week for a second interview

Is this place residential construction or commercial/industrial construction? The big things construction companies are looking for in a project manager is experience, management abilities, and charisma in that order. The won't an outgoing person who can do sales duties well. They want someone who can understand their financial system (who to pay and when). And lastly, they want someone who knows what they are talking about in your field. I imagine the last will be your biggest hurdle. Try to reassure them that what you don't know, you'll learn, and fast. If you can get me some info on the company, I can look around and maybe help some more.

Do your research on the company where you are interviewing. It shows initiative that you've checked them out and can ask intelligent questions about their specific company.
